HEAD INJURY INSTRUCTIONS FOR PAEDIATRIC PATIENTS
PROBLEMS TO WATCH OUT FOR IN THE NEXT DAY OR TWO;
Your child may be in discomfort. Give pain relievers as prescribed by your Physician to relieve pain. If
your child’s behavior is very different to their normal behavior, or the pain does not go away, go back to your doctor.
Your child may vomit two or three times in the first hour or two after the injury. If the vomiting
continues immediately contact the Emergency room/Physician.
Immediately after the head injury your child may be sleepy. There is no need to keep your child awake if they want to sleep. If your child does go to sleep, wake them every 2hours to check their condition, and their reaction to familiar things.
