BSH Becomes First Private Hospital to Join the Bahrain Genome Project

Driving the Future of Precision Medicine

Bahrain Specialist Hospital is proud to pioneer private sector participation in the Bahrain Genome Project — a landmark initiative that is reshaping the future of healthcare through cutting-edge genetic research and precision medicine.

Launched on November 15, 2024, this national program is led by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the National Genome Center, with the goal of building a robust genetic database to inform disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment strategies tailored to the Bahraini population.

As the first private hospital in the Kingdom to partner on this transformative initiative, BSH has enrolled 129 participants to date, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to advancing genomic science and integrating innovation into patient care. This milestone reflects the power of public-private collaboration — bridging expertise and resources to expand access to personalized healthcare.

“As the first private hospital to collaborate with the Ministry of Health on this project, we take immense pride in contributing to Bahrain’s genomic research efforts. This partnership reflects our dedication to pioneering innovation and delivering excellence in patient care.”
Dr. Najah Al Zayani, Vice Chairperson of the Board of Bahrain Specialist Hospital

Through its participation, BSH continues to support the seamless integration of genetic diagnostics into clinical pathways, enabling earlier detection, targeted therapies, and improved outcomes for patients across Bahrain.

As the Bahrain Genome Project evolves, BSH stands with national leaders in healthcare innovation — shaping policies, expanding research, and delivering the future of precision medicine.
